Ashley Yates

This story is so incredibly sad and depressing! Those kids were so little and so innocent and because of their "mother" they never got to be able to appreciate what life has to offer.  I do believe Yates is legally insane, because no mother would ever do something like that in my opinion.  Someone in class said that if she wasn't insane she would have realized what she was doing after she murdered her first child.  She wouldn't have continued, but she did and then to call the police..if she wasn't insane she would have fled, not called.  I don't like the insanity defense because in a way I look it at as an excuse, as a way out of punishment, but I do believe she was/is insane and she should continue to be in jail.  She do hard time in my opinion, not be in an institution.

Serial 7

I didn't like this episode of serial to be honest.  I feel that the narrator was indirectly suggesting that Adnan is innocent..because there are similarities between him, the case and cases from the innocence project. You can't say hes innocent based off other cases because every case is different, and I don't think its fair to even think that.  With the lawyer, I feel shes too easy. She has the idea that everyone is innocent. I don't believe in that.  I believe that if there is a crime, and you are associated, you are 99.9 percent of the time involved somehow.  Maybe I'm being unfair, but I think the lawyer isn't hard on crime, and looks for ways to prove someone to be innocent.  The whole idea of the innocence project bothers me to be honest, because it says that people don't have faith in our court and judicial systems.  It shows a lack of respect, and I think that is very wrong.  Perhaps this is why I am not a fan of the lawyer as well.  As of right now, I really don't know who to believe.  I still believe Jay is hiding something, but I don't believe Adnan is innocent.

Juvenile Justice

I found the video to be very interesting, and with each kid I realized I really don't feel bad for any of them.  They know they did the wrong thing, so I feel they should be punished.  Honestly, I feel that when each kid talks to the intake officer they are acting.  They loo like they are acting sorry, acting sad.  I don't trust anything they say to be true, because if you can commit an offense or a crime, why should I take what you say as credible? When it comes to what to do with these kids, I most definitely would not get rid of detention.  For now I would keep the system as is, but I if were an intake officer I would be harder on crime, because I believe its through hard punishments do people really learn.

Serial 6

I still don't know if I believe that Adnan did it.  The second girl witness that said that she was told that Adnan showed Jay the body.  At first glance, this would sound bad for Adnan, but to me she sounds fake.  She sounds too confident and too much of an actor, in my opinion.  I don't trust her or what she has to say, especially because she knew Jay and was friendly.  I think she would say anything to protect him.  I still don't trust Jay at all.  With the phone call, I don't understand why she "cant recall" anything after saying hello to Jay.  I don't trust her either, and the fact that she changed her story on the stand, (suddenly didn't talk to Jay at the store), doesn't make her any more credible.  Also when Adanan became hostile towards the speaker, it stuck out to me.  Maybe he has anger issues and maybe that's why he killed Hay?

Serial Episode 5

After listening to this episode, I believe even more than before that Jay is a liar.  He continually changes his story, which to me means he is covering himself.  I have doubts that Adnan did it simply because of that.  There isn't anything about Adnan that tells me he didn't do it, only that Jay appears to be a liar.  If Jay did do it, I think he had Adnan help him, which explains why they both have so much information to give.

Serial Episodes 2 and 3

I think the further the story goes on, the more complex it gets.  In these two episodes, I feel like you see a back and forth of information that helps Adnan and information that hurts Adnan.  Personally, when I heard these two episodes I thought Adnan was guilty, because of the information that other people have about him.  Everyone knows a lot, between his friend Jay, and his other friend, (I forget her name).  I feel like if people have a lot of information, then it makes it more likely he did it.  I don't see what reason they would have to lie,

Serial Episode Four

The more episodes we listen to, the more complex the story gets.  As we were doing the notes, I noticed that I had very little in the "For adnan" column.  (Maybe I am biased).  Aside from adnan, Jay stuck out to me because of how much he changes his story.  I feel that shows signs of a liar, and he knows way too much information for someone who was just an acquaintance to adnan.  It really wouldn't surprise me if it was actually Jay who committed the crime.  I get the feeling he is trying to cover himself, and not just so he doesn't get associated with adnan.  He's protecting himself so he doesn't get caught for doing the crime.
